“Saved By The Bell” star Dustin Diamond Dies From Stage 4 Lung Cancer At 44

Socialites, it is with our deepest regret to inform you that Dustin Diamond has died.

According to Variety and TMZ, the “Saved By The Bell” star best known for his role as “Screech” died this Monday after a short battle with lung cancer.

As we previously reported, Dustin was rushed to the hospital earlier this month after experiencing “pain all over his body.” At the time, tests were being done to determine the cause, but Dustin’s medical team was “concerned it’s cancer” while awaiting the results of a biopsy. A week later, it was confirmed that he had stage 4 lung cancer.

Dustin kept positive and was looking forward to spending more time with his girlfriend, TMZ reports. But unfortunately, he lost his fight. His publicist Roger Paul confirmed the sad news to USA TODAY in a statement saying, “We are saddened to confirm Dustin Diamond’s passing on Monday, February 1st, 2021 due to carcinoma.”

“He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago. In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”

Diamond played the relatable, irritating geek Screech from the late 1980s until 2000. He later toured as a stand-up comedian and appeared on reality TV shows and in a few small movie roles. He was just 44 years old.
