Actress Sarah Paulson, 49, and her longtime girlfriend, actress Holland Taylor, 81, reveal they will likely NOT get married, with Taylor blaming their “big generational differences,” and adding, “Marriage doesn’t seem to mean to us what it means to a lot of people.”
While speaking with host Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM channel ‘Radio Andy’ on Thursday (August 8), the 81-year-old ‘Legally Blonde’ actress revealed that she has never discussed the possibility of tying the knot with her longtime girlfriend, 49-year-old ‘American Horror Story’ actress Sarah Paulson.
On the show, Cohen asked the Emmy-winning actress if she and her longtime girlfriend had any plans to marry in the future. However, despite their deep love and commitment to each other, Taylor shared that the two do not plan to make their union official. She admitted, “I don’t think [we’ll get married]. We’ve never talked about it with any interest. It doesn’t seem to mean to us what it means to a lot of people.”
While addressing their 34-year age gap, Taylor added, “I mean, we have a big generational difference between us, which worries me for her sake. But, you know… what can I do?” Despite their decades-long age gap, Taylor also shared that their bond is beyond the surface level. She said, “We do have a wonderful resonance. We are very interested in the same kinds of things, and yet we share big differences.”
Taylor continued, “… A lot of the things that she’s going through that are very emotional and important to her right now, I went through, you know, 40 years ago, 30 years ago. And she brings them up in my memory and I think, ‘Oh, of course this is hard. Of course, that’s hard,’ or ‘Of course that’s great. Of course, that’s important to her.’”
Before speaking on any plans to marry or not, Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor first met at a party in 2005 before reconnecting on social media a decade later and officially dating in 2015. In a 2019 appearance on Andy Cohen’s ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ Sarah Paulson further explained how Holland Taylor slid into her DMs after following each other on social media.
Before this, Taylor had officially revealed their relationship and opened up about their 34-year age gap during an interview with radio station WNYC in 2015. She said, “There’s a very big age difference between us which I’m sure shocks a lot of people, and it startles me. But as they say, ‘If she dies, she dies.’” They would then make their first public appearance as a couple at the opening night of Broadway’s ‘School of Rock‘ a few months later in New York City.
