The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly taking steps to keep their home-court advantage intact ahead of Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks. TMZ reports that a Ticketmaster notice states that ticket purchases for the game are restricted to customers residing within a 150-mile radius of Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
The policy reportedly warns that any tickets purchased by customers outside the approved radius may be canceled and refunded.
Ticketmaster Notice Details: Residency Requirements
The notice states:
“Frost Bank Center is located in San Antonio, Texas. Sales to this event will be restricted to customers residing within a 150-mile radius of Frost Bank Center.”
The statement also reportedly states that residency will be determined by the billing address on the credit card used to purchase tickets.
In addition, orders found to be outside the designated radius may be canceled without prior notice. The policy also includes a four-ticket limit per transaction through the venue.
Knicks Fans Reportedly Purchased Large Share of Available Seats
The restriction comes amid reports that Knicks fans have purchased approximately 50% of the available seats for the highly anticipated matchup.
With the NBA Finals shifting back to Texas, Spurs supporters have expressed concerns that a large number of opposing fans could fill the arena, potentially diminishing the team’s home-court atmosphere. Ticket demand has also driven prices to extraordinary levels.
Reports indicate that tickets start at approximately $1,500 for upper-level seats, while courtside tickets sell for as much as $10,000.
