In a new interview with CNN, RZA is speaking on how it was such an honor for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky named their baby boy after him.
“[It’s] a great honor to know that there’s another generation that’s not even of my own household that feels the strength and the inspiration of that name,” he told CNN.

“RZA isn’t only a name, it’s a title,” he continued. “So it’s an honor and I salute her and A$AP and their family. All the blessings in the world from me.” As we previously reported, the iconic couples full name, RZA Athelston Mayers, was revealed on a birth certificate obtained by the Daily Mail a year after the baby’s birth.
Additionally, A$AP Rocky is a fan of the iconic hip-hop group, having previously collaborated with Raekwon on the 2015 single ‘Fly International Luxurious Art.’ The birth certificate also stated that RZA was given his father’s middle name and was born in Los Angeles on May 13, 2022.
The couple is also expecting their second child which was revealed during Rihanna’s Superbowl Half Time performance but it is unknown about the baby’s gender and due date. Rihanna previously discussed at the 2023 Met Gala the difference between her pregnancy with RZA and her second child.
Just two months ago, A$AP, known legally as Rakim Mayers, confirmed their son’s name in a carousel of adorable photos with the caption: “WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN’ HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA.”
