Well dang! Ryan Garcia’s B-sample drug test has came back positive! According to @espn, Garcia’s B-samples from the drug tests taken on April 19 and April 20, just before his fight against Devin Haney, have tested positive for the banned substance ostarine.

Ryan Garcia’s legal team responded back to the results in a statement that read: “Ryan Garcia is committed to clean and fair competition and has never  intentionally used any banned substance.” The statement added, “Soon after being notified of his positive test, Ryan voluntarily had his hair collected and shipped to Dr. Pascal Kintz, the foremost expert in toxicology and hair-sample analysis. The results of Ryan’s hair sample came back negative. This is consistent with contamination and demonstrably proves that Ryan had not ingested Ostarine over a period of time — the only way he would have had any advantage whatsoever in the ring. Ryan has voluntarily submitted to tests throughout his career, which have always shown negative results.”

“He also tested negative multiple times leading up to the fight against Haney. All of these factors, combined with his ultra-low levels from samples taken on April 19th and 20th (in the billionth of a gram range), point to Ryan being a victim of supplement contamination and never receiving any performance enhancing benefit from the microscopic amounts in his system. We are certain that one of the natural supplements Ryan was using in the lead up to the fight will prove to be contaminated and are in the process of testing the supplements to determine the exact source.”

As we all know, Garcia had an impressive fight against Devin Haney but the win was quickly overshadowed by reports of the boxer testing positive for Ostarine the day before the fight. As we previously reported, Garcia spoke out and denied the claims, but while being a guest on The Fully Tilted podcast, Garcia admitted to being “high” during the fight. “It was literally drinking every day, smoking weed. I didn’t stop not even until the f***ing day of the fight. And I got in there high as f*** and I beat his ass. It was a walk in the f***ing park. I had harder fights in sparring.”

His recent opponent Devin Haney recently released a statement and shared his disappointment about the situation. The 25-year-old said, “We learned about this situation not too long ago and it’s unfortunate Ryan cheated and disrespected both the fans and the sport of boxing by fighting dirty and breaking positive not once, but twice.”

He continued, “I’ve always been an advocate for clean fighting and this is an example of such. Ryan owes the fans an apology, and by his recent tweet, he still thinks this is a joke. We put our lives on the line to entertain people for a living. You don’t play boxing. This puts the fight in a completely different light. Despite the disadvantage, I still fought on my shield and got back up!”

He concluded, “People die in this sport. This isn’t a joking matter.”
