Rowdy Rebel Confirms Bobby Shmurda Took 2 Extra Years In Prison For Him & Others
Back in 2016, Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda, real name Ackquille Jean Pollard, told Complex that he took 2 extra years in prison for his friend and collaborator Rowdy Rebel, real name Chad Marshall. Now, in an interview post-release, Rebel confirms Shmurda agreed to a harsher sentence to help out him and others.
Then, Shmurda revealed why he took a plea deal in his murder conspiracy case. He said, “I did it for Rowdy. They offered me five and offered Rowdy 12. They said the only way they’ll give him seven is if I took seven too. So, you know, I had to take one for the dawgs.”

Speaking with Complex‘s Speedy Morman, Rebel recently updated, “[Bobby’s] first off was five years. My first offer was 12. Monty’s [Nicholas McCoy] was 10 and Cueno’s [Santino Boderick] was 18. So they [said to] us, ‘do a global disposition right now or y’all cop out and sign these papers and you don’t have to go to trial’.” Rowdy says a couple members couldn’t “stomach” their lengthy sentences, so they were ready to go to trial. After back and forth, Bobby offered to take 7 years to shave time off Rowdy’s and others’ offers. “[Bobby] said, ‘Come on let’s go and do it,’ and signed them papers. I went back to my cell and cried that night.’
Asking him after explaining, Morman says, “Was there ever a doubt in your mind that Bobby was going to take those extra two years?” Rowdy responds, “There’s no time for that. When it happened it was on some like, how do I say, ‘Yo bro, do that.'”
