Rosie O’Donnell Has ‘Compassion’ For Ellen DeGeneres Despite Refusing To Come On Show

Veteran talk show host Rosie O’Donnell is stepping for a fellow female talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, citing that she has “compassion” for her, even though she’s still refusing to ever come on her show.

Amid the continued allegations that DeGeneres had employees caught in a toxic workplace at the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ O’Donnell, like Kevin HartKaty Perry, and more, is rushing to the side of a longtime friend, DeGeneres, 62.

Appearing on the ‘Busy Philips Is Doing Her Best‘ podcast, O’Donnell, 58, says, “If you have a daily show, you can’t fake your essence. That’s why I have compassion for Ellen. I have compassion, even though I hear the stories, and I understand. I think she has some social awkwardness. I think from knowing her for so many years, I have my own kind of history with her.” Explaining why she’s never done and will never do the show, O’Donnell, who had a heart attack in 2012, adds, “You know how Ellen surprises everyone? I’ve never done that show because I’m terrified she’s going to scream … scare me, give me a heart attack.”

Furthermore, in July, DeGeneres addressed the allegations, stating, “As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”
