‘Roots’ & ‘Star Trek’ Star LeVar Burton ‘Flattered’ By Petition To Become New ‘Jeopardy!’ Host
As fans continue to mourn the loss of famed ‘Jeopardy!‘ host Alex Trebek, they also have begun theorizing who could become the show’s new leader; and it looks like ‘Roots‘ and ‘Star Trek‘ star LeVar Burton has been eyed via a new petition, which he is “flattered” by.
Over on Change.org, a new petition, “Make LeVar Burton the next host of Jeopardy!” has been created, and currently (at the time of publishing this article) boasts upwards of 72,500 signatures, with a goal of 75,000. In response of the viral petition, Burton, who also hosted ‘Reading Rainbow,’ took to Twitter to share, “Even if nothing comes from it, I can’t tell how much how I appreciate all y’alls love and support!

A snippet of the cause on Change.org states, “Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing the brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: the Next Generation, and filling the roll of Kunta Kinte in the ever important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds.”
