During his set, Roddy took a moment to let fans know that he’s recovering from food poising and just finished getting an Iv drip before hitting the stage. He wanted to give fans a heads up in advance just in case his performance seemed a bit off. However, he did not disappoint as the crowd was super amped to see him.
However, during his performance, Roddy paid his respects to fellow rapper Young Dolph who sadly died last week after he was shot in his hometown, Memphis. Roddy recalled his last conversation he had with Dolph, which was a day before his birthday letting him know that he wanted to do a collab for his new album: “He texted me on my birthday then that sh*t happened,” speaking about Dolph’s tragic death. “It reminded me when my big bro Nip had to be escalated to where he went to. So I just want to tell all the get money n***as, all the n***as in the streets, all the real n*ggas outside; stay safe but at the same time stay dangerous. Always be on your pivot, always look over your shoulders, keep a n*gga with you because at the end of the day we got to make it home.”
As we previously reported, Young Dolph was shot at Makeda’s Cookies, a beloved, family-owned bakery known for its tasty butter cookies and banana pudding. The bakery was a favorite of the rapper, who regularly visited it when he was in the city. So far no arrests have been made and police are asking anyone who may be able to identify the suspects to come forward.
