As we previously reported, reality star Karen Huger, found herself in a frightening car crash that left her shaken but “grateful to be alive.” The incident occurred earlier this week in Potomac, Maryland, where Huger was driving her 2017 Maserati in what authorities described as an aggressive manner, leading to a serious collision.
According to a representative for Montgomery County Police, Huger’s car sustained significant damage, rendering it inoperable. The crash involved striking a median, a crosswalk sign, and a parking sign before coming to a stop off the roadway. While the extent of the damage is still being assessed, it was clear that the car could not be driven and had to be towed away. Despite the severity of the crash, Huger was fortunate to escape with minor injuries. According to an updated report by TMZ, Huger who cops just initially cited was later charged withDUI.

In a lengthy statement to TMZ, she expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support and well-wishes from fans and friends. Huger revealed that the emotional toll of losing her mother, coupled with the approaching Mother’s Day, had left her in a fragile state, making the incident even more distressing.
She began, “Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during this very frightening experience. I am still in shock from last night’s incident, but grateful to be alive today. With the passing of my Beloved Mother, Grief comes and goes in waves, and with Mother’s Day approaching it has felt more like a tsunami.” Huger, 60, went on to recall what happened during the night of the crash:
“Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner, we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider, and then a tree. I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”
She concluded, “I would like to stress, it’s important to understand your emotional state when driving and may this be a reminder to all to use their seatbelts, my Mother may be my Guardian Angel but the seatbelt saved my life.”
Aside from this, Huger is gearing up for the season 8 reunion of Real Housewives of Potomac which is set to air this Sunday.
