Fans have been very concerned about Wendy Williams after a Friday report claimed that she had recently been hospitalized. A source told The Sun that Williams, 58, was admitted to the hospital last weekend and was “released briefly” but then “went right back in” a day later.
Another insider alleged that the former talk show host’s family was “aware” of the hospitalization and clarified she was not in a rehab facility.
The news about her health also came the same day it was reported Wendy canceled her $25,000 speaking engagement at the upcoming Atlanta Women’s Expo, which is set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, according to the US Sun. A rep for the expo reportedly told the outlet in a statement, “There is a video from Wendy that will be played Saturday, apologizing for the late cancellation.”
An insider added, “Wendy’s ability to perform has been rocky at best. She can put together a sentence one day but not the next.” The insider went on to tell The Sun, “There have been serious questions recently about if she will ever get better.”
Amid all of these concerning reports, Wendy’s publicist, Shawn Zanotti, is now speaking out to shut down these rumors. While exclusively speaking with Page Six on Saturday, Shawn said, “I can confirm that Wendy Williams is not in the hospital, as reported. I can also confirm she is not in New York, as reported.”
More On Wendy Williams Health
Williams has kept a relatively low profile
Wendy Williams has been battling Graves’ Disease and thyroid issues. Graves’ Disease is a disorder of the immune system that leads to an overproduction of thyroid hormones. This condition affects both men and women, although it is more common in women. Symptoms of Graves’ Disease include fatigue, weight loss, increased appetite, sweating, irritability, and bulging eyes. Treatment for Graves’ Disease typically involves medication to reduce the production of thyroid hormones and surgery or radiation therapy to remove the thyroid gland. If left untreated, Graves’ Disease can lead to serious complications such as heart failure or osteoporosis.
Those health problems have taken a huge toll on her body and even stopped her from doing her talk show. It initially resulted in a delay in launching season 12 of the show back in September 2021 before ultimately coming to an end in 2022 after 13 years on air.
The show was ultimately replaced by The Sherri Show which is hosted by comedian Sherri Shepherd.
While there have been rumors that Wendy Williams is planning to make a return to daytime television, sources have denied those claims. However, Miss Williams has said that she is working on a podcast. It is unclear when that will officially premiere.
