The world has reached a new milestone in the pandemic as there are now 20 million reported coronavirus cases and 750,000 deaths globally.

CNN reported the daily number of cases within seven days have been above a quarter million for two weeks. The United States and Brazil has the highest number of reported cases at a total of 8 million and 260,000 deaths in the world. India has the third-highest number in the world with two million cases and reports state the country is having issues trying to treat the virus due to the lack of supplies, beds, and medical staff in hospitals but their mortality rate remains low.
Africa has more than one million confirmed cases and a lack of testing poses a huge issue as reported by WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti.

The World Health Organization said in a statement that there is a rise in cases among young people, specifically teens and young adults due to the engaging in risky behavior and gathering in large groups. WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reassured the public during a press conference in Geneva that there is time to reduce outbreaks with preventative measures.
“I know many of you are grieving, and that this is a difficult moment for the world. But I want to be clear: There are green shoots of hope and no matter where a country, a region, a city or a town it — it is never too late to turn the outbreak around.”
