Rep. Buddy Carter Introduces Bill to Rename Greenland to Red, White, and Blueland

U.S. Representative Buddy Carter has proposed a bold legislative move: a bill permitting former President Donald Trump to negotiate the purchase of Greenland from Denmark. If the deal succeeds, the bill requires the U.S. Department of the Interior to update all federal records to reflect a new name—“Red, White, and Blueland.”

This proposal reignites Trump’s past interest in Greenland, a territory rich in strategic and natural resources. However, Denmark previously dismissed the idea of selling Greenland, insisting the island is not for sale, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The U.S. already has a strong presence in Greenland through the Thule Air Base, an essential component of North American defense systems. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has expressed openness to increased U.S. military presence on the island but remains firm that Greenland is not for sale.

“I totally agree with the Americans that the High North, the Arctic region is becoming more and more important when we are talking about defense and security and deterrence. And it is possible to find a way to ensure stronger footprints in Greenland,” she said earlier this month. Frederiksen also addressed comments from Vice President JD Vance, claiming that Denmark was not a good ally to the United States.

“We have fought side by side with the Americans for many, many decades, I will not accept the notion that Denmark is a bad ally. We are not, we have not been, and we will not be in the future.”

The news comes amid Google acknowledging the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America after President Trump declared February 9th as “Gulf of America Day.”
