Remy Ma Speaks On Rappers Having It Easier Now Than Artists From Her Era: ‘As Time Goes On, It’s Supposed To Get Easier’

Remy Ma has shared her thoughts on rappers who have a far easier time coming up in the music industry than those who landed their record deals long before the rise of social media and streaming. These days, it seems as if a viral video and a catchy hit are all it takes to sign a multi-million-dollar contract.

And while that’s undoubtedly an advantage to someone who is pursuing a career in music, Remy, who sat down for an interview with Breakbeat’s “NY State Of Mind” this week, says things are supposed to get easier. “You’re not supposed to keep struggling forever, and I think the people that be upset about it, is the people that don’t understand evolution / how the world works,” she said.

The “Conceited” rapper, who landed her big break after being taken under the wing of the late Big Pun, added that those artists who may have had a harder time to make it in the industry ultimately become one of the “pavers” for breaking barriers that have allowed the up-and-coming rappers to excel.

“I’m one of those people that if I meet somebody, or I see somebody and they remotely in the same field as me, I try to download everything that I know so that they can avoid some of the pitfalls and the trial and tribulations that I went through,” Remy expressed.

“I didn’t really have that. When I came in, they was like, every piece of information was treated like the holy grail. They ain’t wanna tell you nothing. ‘Oh, she’ll figure it out.’ Like, why would you want to do that to me? I just don’t understand that mentality.”

Elsewhere, Remy is gearing up to release her forthcoming EP, which she first announced back in September in a sultry video sporting a lingerie set and heels.
