Regis Philbin’s Cause of Death Revealed
As we previously reported, legendary television host Regis Philbin died last Friday at the age of 88. At the time, his caused of death wasn’t revealed but those details have just been shared.

Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Farmington, Conn., confirmed to the Daily News on Wednesday that the beloved “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” host died of a myocardial infarction due to coronary artery disease.
Following his death on July 24, his family mourned the loss in a statement to multiple news outlets: “We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Regis Philbin passed away last night of natural causes, one month shy of his 89th birthday. His family and friends are forever grateful for the time we got to spend with him–for his warmth, his legendary sense of humor, and his singular ability to make every day into something worth talking about.”
The statement continued,
“We thank his fans and admirers for their incredible support over his 60-year career and ask for privacy as we mourn his loss.”
On Monday, Regis’ former co-host, Kelly Ripa broke her silence on his death. She said, “Mark [Consuelos] and I were lucky enough to have all of our children with us this past weekend on Saturday,” she told Ryan Seacrest. “We were all together when we heard this horrible news.”
Regis is survived by his wife Joy and daughters J.J. Joanna, and Amy from his two marriages.
