Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker revealed that she was alive for at least five minutes and he called her mother then yelled for help during a recorded police interview. As reported by the Louisville Courier-Journal, Walker said “[Police are] yelling like, ‘Come out, come out,’ and I’m on the phone with her. I’m still yelling help because she’s over here coughing and, like, I’m just freaking out,” However, the Jefferson County coroner refutes Walker’s claim and said Taylor died a minute after the shooting and couldn’t be saved.

The family’s attorneys Sam Aguiar and Lonita Bakers confirmed Walker’s claims in a revised lawsuit along with the dispatch logs revealing that Taylor did not receive any medical treatment on March 13.

“Breonna, who was unarmed in her hallway, was struck by several rounds of gunfire. She was not killed immediately. Rather, she lived for another five to six minutes before ultimately succumbing to her injuries on the floor of her home.”

These records further show that the police officers tried to get medical help for Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly after he was shot by Walker in self-defense. Walker said he thought the officers were home intruders due to their no-knock warrants.
