Ray J is breaking his silence on years-long Whitney Houston rumors, confirming they were dating at the time of her passing, and denying all allegations that he was her drug runner, that they did drugs together, and that he murdered her.
For years, there have been rumors online that singer Ray J either had a whimsical romance with the late and great singer Whitney Houston or that he was simply a drug runner and drug buddy for her. Accompanying the romance and drug rumors were allegations that Houston was murdered, and that Ray J allegedly had something to do with it. However, Ray J is now shutting down all the false claims.
While speaking with Cam Newton on his ‘Funky Friday’ podcast, Ray J said talked about his relationship with Whitney Houston. He further addressed rumors surrounding her death. On February 11, 2012, one day before the Grammy Awards, the 48-year-old songstress was found unconscious at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Reports have long-stated that she accidentally drowned in her hotel bathtub.

While speaking about Whitney, Ray J told Cam Newton:
“I love Whitney. I was with Whitney every f***king day. She was one of the most important people to me. N***as is saying that I was in the room when she died. Bro, that’s the biggest cap I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard it since the beginning, but when you know the truth, why do you have to jump out there and try and tell it to everybody? I didn’t care about what people were saying at first. If you look on all comments, anytime I go live, or anything. [They say,] ‘You killed Whitney.’ That happens in spam.
Here’s the truth. It’s not my truth. It’s just certain times when narratives are going to the moon that’s not true, you have to go and shut certain things down. The way they made that seem is so haunting to me. I wasn’t even there. I was nowhere around. I was in San Diego doing a show. The Clive Davis event was the next day. We were going to go there together. We were really going to make the announcement [that we were dating. We had a real relationship] 1000 percent. That was my people.
I barely speak on Whitney. She’s Whitney Houston, but she’s Whitney to me. To me, it’s just so distasteful to tell somebody something that the other person can’t respond to. To me, that’s unfair. So, I’ve always just never said nothing. But, now that this sh*t’s going everywhere, it’s just f***king hurtful. When I got back to the hotel, they did not let me up at first. Until everything was cleared and it was just the family, that’s when I was able to go upstairs and see the family. This was late, late at night.”
Ray J continues to explain how he learned that one of Whitney’s bodyguards with the same name, “Ray,” found her. He said the media then blasted out that it was “Ray J” who found the singer. But, he said 10 minutes later, they retracted the statement. In their retraction, they clarified it was her bodyguard with the same name.

When asked if he had done drugs with Whitney Houston, Ray J said:
“I’ve never done one drug with Whitney. And when n***as ask me, ‘Did Whitney do drugs,’ there’s certain things you can ask me, and I’ll tell you about me. But, you don’t gotta ask me the other question, because you already f***king know. It’s Whitney. Everybody knows her answers.
I can tell you about me. I was so f***ked up after that happened, I tried hard drugs. For the first time after that sh*t happened. Because I was just like I didn’t now what was going on. I was totally in awe of it.”
Newton proceed to clearly ask Ray J if he ever witnessed Whitney Houston doing drugs. Ray replied, “Whitney? I don’t want to talk about that. I’m way younger. She’s in control, she’s Whitney, she’s a boss. So, to make me the big dog, I’m not the big dog. I’m the little n***a. I’m the little homie.” Ray also talked about how he and Whitney started dating and all of their good times together. He said:
“We just started bonding in Miami. Whitney was Brandy‘s idol. That’s all Brandy listened to. She f***king worshipped Whitney. She loved her and she emulated everything around her. So, I liked Whitney too. I felt the same way, just different. Then, when I seen her, sh*t, I went there. That’s how it happened. Then we was locked in for a long time. The [public] knew about it, for sure. They saw us everywhere. But, we was gonna make it official the night she passed. So, we didn’t get a chance to. I was on my way back and I never saw her again. Now, you wake up to, ‘I did that?’ Alright, my n***a. Just let it go, until it just keeps going, going, going.”
Ray J claimed his name was brought up during the Diddy trial, alleging he sold drugs to Diddy. He denied selling any drugs to Diddy, or to anyone at all.
