Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith and his family were robbed at gunpoint shortly after they arrived at Los Angeles International Airport earlier this week.

KTLA reports the robbery took place Tuesday night at a hotel after Smith and his family arrived at the airport. The Ravens said in the following statement after receiving news about the robbery: “We are aware of the situation involving Jimmy Smith. We have spoken with Jimmy and he and his family are safe.” No further details have been released from the team.

Smith has spent his 10-year career with the Ravens after he was the first-round pick in 2011. He recently signed a one-year extension to stay with the team next year.
