Rapper Silento Arrested In Georgia After Allegedly Driving 143 MPH, Claims He Was Being Chased

Atlanta rapper Silento, best known for his hit single “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” has been arrested in Georgia after police pulled him over for allegedly driving 143 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. The rapper, real name Richard Lamar Hawk, blamed his excessive speed on his belief that he was being chased.

According to the police report, Hawk claims he was being followed by 10 cars leaving a club in Gwinnett County. The 22-year-old told DeKalb County police, “People be following me everywhere I go. Go to your parked car and read my ID.” Hawk also claimed that he’d “been through this before.”

Police say the rapper was driving his white 2020 BMW X3 at a high rate of speed, swerving in and out of traffic, and failing to maintain a lane. Hawk’s latest arrest follows last month’s arrest in Los Angeles, after he was trying to hit two people with a hatchet in their home. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and was held in jail on a $105,000 bail.
