Disney announced on Thursday that they will be shutting down Radio Disney in early 2021 as part of revamping the company.

According to MSN, the company announced there will be a huge layoff of more than 100 executives at their television group and the shutdown of Radio Disney will lead to more than 36 positions being terminated.
“Division leaders also took into account the fast-evolving media environment that provides more personalized music choices than ever to a generation of young consumers, and the ongoing public health crisis that continues to affect in-person music events,”

During its prime, Radio Disney played a role in the careers of Miley Cyrus. Selena Gomez, Justin Beiber, and Ariana Grande by playing their earlier hits. It was launched in 1996 for Disney’s preteen and teen listeners and played songs from their most popular Disney Channel shows. Their other sector, Radio Disney Country will also shut down their operations.
