According to the Daily Mail, the disgraced singer asked for another delay in his latest trial after he was forced to quarantine for 14 days on arrival to his new jail. Lawyers argued that they have not had enough time to prepare for a hearing on August 9 because of the mandatory prison quarantine following his transfer from Chicago, the news site notes.

Prosecutors turned over to Kelly’s defense team a DVD that alleges to show Kelly having sex with an underage girl in the 1990s. Kelly has been charged with multiple sex crimes involving four women, three of whom were underage at the time of the alleged encounters.

As we previously reported, Kelly, whose legal name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was placed in quarantine as soon as he arrived at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on June 22 from Chicago, where he was being held on similar charges. Today marks 14 days since Kelly’s transfer — the same jail as Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged madam who is also awaiting a sex trafficking trial.

As we previously reported, the 54-year-old is accused of leading an enterprise made up of his managers, bodyguards, and other employees who helped him recruit women and girls for sex. The Daily Mail reports, that Federal prosecutors had not responded to his lawyer’s request as of Monday night and declined to comment. The judge has yet to rule on the filing.
