R. Kelly’s fiancée Joycelyn Savage has responded to the singer’s lawyer, who recently shut down her claims she was pregnant with Kelly’s baby. As we previously revealed, Savage dropped the bombshell news in her 11-page-long memoir, “Love & Joy Of Robert,” where she revealed she had learned about her pregnancy shortly after getting engaged to the self-proclaimed Pied Piper.
“Months later, I began expecting severe morning sickness and was unsure what was wrong with my body. I thought I had contracted COVID-19, but the most amazing news of all was that I was expecting,” she wrote in her book. And while Kelly’s legal team branded Savage as “insane” for making the assertion, she has since given an interview to Entertainment Weekly explaining how she allegedly became pregnant with Kelly’s child.
Given that the “Step In The Name Of Love” hitmaker was already incarcerated at the time Savage claimed to have conceived their baby, she actually went the IVF route. “His lawyer didn’t know that prior to him going to jail, Robert and I were doing IVF because at the time I was told I couldn’t have a baby,” she explained to the news outlet. “When he got sent to prison, we paused on it and I had them freeze my eggs until I was ready. Once his lawyer did find out, she wanted me to have an abortion because she didn’t feel that now was the time for me to have a child following the 30-year sentence.”
Savage added, “Me and Robert wanted to have a child for a long time. He is very happy about it, his lawyer isn’t. Once I told her I was keeping my baby, she didn’t want me to announce but I wanted to share the news. I’ve always been there for him even before this new lawyer came into the picture.”
Interestingly enough, Kelly’s team has yet to respond to Savage’s latest comments concerning her pregnancy. She previously revealed that before releasing her tell-all memoir last week, she sent the full copy over to Kelly who had to approve the stories she wanted to share with the world, which included the revelation of her bun in the oven.
Further in her book, Savage talked about the joy she felt after learning about her pregnancy, especially after she had struggled to conceive in the past. “It was a happy day but an incomplete time in my life. Today I am grateful to God for giving me the most precious gift. Robert is extremely excited about the news that I am having a baby and feels sad that Robert will not be able to be here with us.”
