R. Kelly Begs Again To Be Released From Jail Early Over COVID-19 Outbreak

As we previously reported, Kelly requested to get out early in fear that he would catch the virus. However, the judge shut his attempt down, saying he’s a flight risk to the community.

Despite that, the “Trapped in The Closet” singer has put in a request AGAIN. According to TMZ, he filed a renewed emergency motion asking to get released from lockup based on changed circumstances. Kelly and his legal team say when he last asked to get out, the court noted there were no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the Chicago jail where he’s currently locked up. However, according to the docs, that has changed.

Kelly and lawyer says Chicago MCC admits there are at least 6 confirmed positive cases now among inmates along with 7 staff members. He argues that it will get worse and claims if he doesn’t get out soon, it’s an “absolute probability” he “will be infected with this deadly disease.”

Kelly reportedly reassured that he is not a flight risk and agreed to 24/7 surveillance and GPS monitoring to make sure he doesn’t go anywhere if he gets out the slammer, TMZ notes.

So far, the judge has yet to make a decision.
