A jury has ordered Migos rapper Quavo to pay nearly $700,000 to a former employee of a Las Vegas Strip hotel after an incident that was caught on camera in 2018 where he slapped the employee.

According to 8newsnow, Antonio Henry, who used to work as a valet at the Encore Hotel & Casino, claimed that Quavo caused him both physical and emotional harm. After a trial lasting several weeks, the jury found in favor of Henry and ruled that the rapper must pay him $682,000 in compensatory and punitive damages.

Quavo’s attorney stated that Henry was not actually harmed by the rapper and suggested that Henry is merely seeking what he referred to as a “hip-hop lotto ticket.” William Briggs II, Marshall’s lawyer, said in his closing statement that Henry is seeking a “massive” award of money. “I don’t know about you, but to me, $800,000 is a lot of money. I think it’s a lot of money to a lot of people. And Mr. Henry cannot establish that he was injured by that single slap.”

Henry’s attorney stated that before the incident, Henry was a happy and healthy individual, but the events of 2018 “fundamentally changed” him.

“Marshall set this into motion,” Hengstler said.

But Briggs said otherwise, adding: “Had my client wanted to harm, injure or hurt Mr. Henry, he would have punched him, not slapped him.”

Judge Jessica Peterson will reduce the jury from 11 members to eight who will participate in the deliberations. In civil trials, at least six of those eight jurors must agree on whether Marshall is liable for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress based on the evidence presented.
