Prosecutors Seeking Death Penalty For Robert Aaron Long In Atlanta Spa Shootings Case

Prosecutors in Fulton County, Georgia are seeking the death penalty for Robert Aaron Long, who’s been charged as the killer in the multiple Greater Atlanta spa shootings on March 16 — which killed eight people, six who were Asian women.

As we previously reported, Long was arrested after allegedly going on a killing spree, target Asian people. He’s been indicted by a grand jury for the murders of four women at two Atlanta spas: Suncha Kim, 69; Soon Chung Park, 74; Hyun Jung Grant, 51; and Yong Ae Yue, 63. However, the indictment does not include the Cherokee County killings of Xiaojie “Emily” Tan, 49; Daoyou Feng, 44; Delaina Yaun, 33; and Paul Michels, 54.

While Long has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody without bond, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis filed a notice citing she will seek hate crime charges and the death penalty against Long. Furthermore, a separate grand jury in Cherokee County will decide on charges related to the other four murders and an injury in their county. So far, Long’s Fulton County indictment has him facing in total: one count of domestic terrorism, four counts of murder, four counts of felony murder, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
