Prosecutors Demand ‘Cheer’ Star Jerry Harris Remain In Federal Custody, Claiming He’ll Prey On Other Minors

Prosecutors in the child porn case of ‘Cheer‘ star Jerry Harris are demanding that he remain in federal custody until his trial, claiming he’s a risk and could prey on other minors if released.

As we reported, the breakout star of the Netflix show has been accused of coercing nearly a dozen young boys into sending him explicit photos and videos, and allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old in an unlocked public bathroom during a cheerleading event in 2019. Currently, he is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison.

While Harris’ lawyers argue that his own childhood was riddled with exposes of sexual experiences by older kids, they’ve asked for him to be released on bond to begin receiving “mental health treatment.” Meanwhile, prosecutors oppose; like Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Parente who says, “Harris is a dangerous child predator who targets children all over the country for purposes of sexual exploitation. Harris exhibits all the signs of a serial child predator and unless and until he receives significant mental health sex offender treatment, he will remain a danger to any child he encounters, either online or in-person.”
