A motion was filed by prosecutors who state the March 8 trial should be pushed back to June 7 at Hennepin County Court. It argues that delaying the trial will “reduce the risk to trial participants from COVID-19 and thereby reduce the risk that this trial is delayed or disrupted by a COVID-19 outbreak among the trial participants.”
Ex-cops Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and Tou Thao were charged for the death of George Floyd on May 25. As reported by the New York Post, Chauvin’s lawyer Eric Nelson requested a delay in the trial a few weeks ago after claiming prosecutors mishandled evidence for the case.
