Prosecutor Says There Is “Overwhelming” Evidence Jussie Smollett Faked Attack During Closing Arguments

Jussie Smollett’s alleged hate crime hoax trial has been a mess and the prosecutor and jury are not on his side.

Per ABC News, prosecutor Dan Webb told the jury on Wednesday that the evidence against that Smollett faked a hate crime is “overwhelming,” and that his actions caused the Chicago police to spend a lot of wasted time and resources investigating an alleged crime that was fake.

“Besides being against the law, it is just plain wrong to outright denigrate something as serious as a real hate crime and then make sure it involved words and symbols that have such historical significance in our country,” Webb said.

“At the end of the day, he lacks any credibility whatsoever,” Webb added.

The jury in Smollett’s trial is will start deliberating later today to decide if the former Empire actor is guilty on six counts of a felony for making a false police report about the alleged hate crime and one count of felony disorderly conduct for each time he gave a report to three different police officers.
