Prince Harry Feared Meghan Markle Would Suffer The Same Fate As His Mother Princess Diana
Ahead of the new Oprah Winfrey primetime special, due to premiere Sunday, March 7 on CBS, Prince Harry explains why he left his royal duties; revealing that he feared his wife Meghan Markle, 39, would suffer the same tragic fate as his late mother Princess Diana. Markle has already been facing intense scrutiny, much similar to that once faced by his Diana.
During the special, the 36-year-old Prince says, “My biggest concern was history repeating itself,” referring to the loss of his mother, who died in 1997 after being injured in a car crash in Paris, France. The car crash was onset by Diana being chased by paparazzi. Further helping their conscious decision to leave the royal family, Prince Harry recently spoke on the “toxic” media in Britain that’s hounded him and Meghan.
While holding Meghan’s hand, Harry told Oprah, “For me, I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side, because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself.” Now as we wait for the sit-down with Oprah to air, we’ve learned more about the couple’s decision to exit the family. As we previously reported, there is no subject that’s off-limits in this “tell-all” special. Because of this, it was reported that the couple would likely be exiled from all royal family affairs and connections.
