Welp, Prince Harry is telling it all! In his new memoir “Spare,” the Duke of Sussex admits to doing drugs as a teenager despite previous denials.
In the new book which hits US shelves on Jan. 10, Harry explains that he took the illegal drugs to feel different. “Of course, I had been taking cocaine at that time,” Sky News quotes from the book. “At someone’s house, during a hunting weekend, I was offered a line, and since then I had consumed some more.” He went on to say, “It wasn’t very fun, and it didn’t make me feel especially happy as seemed to happen to others, but it did make me feel different, and that was my main objective. To feel. To be different.” He went on to say, “I was a 17-year-old willing to try almost anything that would alter the pre-established order.”
Further, into the book, he also reveals that he [allegedly] ended up in Courteney Cox’s house where he did mushrooms. “I was still confused because … she was Monica. And I was a Chandler,” Harry wrote. He said he had a crush on the Friends actress. “I wondered if I’d ever work up the courage to tell her. Was there enough tequila in California to get me that brave?” After having his “third or fourth tequila,” he came across “a huge box of black diamond mushroom chocolates.” “My mate and I grabbed several, gobbled them, washed them down with tequila,” he wrote. “The drugs made a trash can with a foot pedal come to life. I stepped on the pedal and the head opened its mouth,” he detailed. “A huge open grin. I laughed.” Despite that, his friend, unfortunately, had a bad trip.
“Spare” also references Harry’s experience smoking weed with some of his school friends. Aside from that, he goes into his marriage with Meghan Markle, and all the royal drama following their big exit.
So far, the palace has not yet commented on any allegations in the book. According to a statement by Page six, the palace does not plan on doing so at all.
