Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Wife Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. A statement was released by the Prime Minister’s Office said she was experiencing flu-like symptoms.

According to the Daily Mail, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau,44,  tested positive for the virus after experiencing mild flu-like symptoms Wednesday night. The Prime Minister’s Office released their statement Thursday and said Justin is currently in good health but has to self-quarantine for 14 days. Sophie later released a statement confirming her status and thanked her loved ones and Canadian citizens for their support:

“First, I’d like to say a big thank you to all of you who have reached out to me asking how I’m doing. Although I’m experiencing uncomfortable symptoms of the virus, I will be back on my feet soon. Being in quarantine at home is nothing compared to other Canadian families who might be going through this and for those facing more serious health concerns.

Justin Trudeau is not being tested to the virus due to being asymptomatic and he will continue his political duties along with addressing Canadian citizens on Friday.

It was also reported that Sophie started experiencing the symptoms Wednesday after returning to Canada from the UK after attending the WE Day UK Charity Event and a concert in London last week.

Currently, there are 153 confirmed cases in Canada.
