President Trump has issued a 30-day travel ban from Europe with an exception for the United Kingdom in response to the rapid coronavirus outbreak in the U.S.
Newsweek reports President Trump addressed the travel ban earlier tonight and said the restriction will come into effect “Friday after midnight.” He said the action was strong yet necessary in order to address the numerous cases of the virus within the nation.

“To keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days. The new rules will go into effect Friday at midnight. Anything coming from Europe to the United States is what we are discussing,”

The announcement also included Trump’s plan to address Congress to approve a bevy of economic policies to help Americans who were infected with the coronavirus. An additional $50 billion will be given to the Small Business Administration to provide capital and liquidity for businesses affected by the virus:
“I am instructing the Small Business Administration to exercise available authority to provide capital and liquidity to firms affected by the coronavirus. Effective immediately, the SBA will begin providing economic loans in affected states and territories.”
