President Donald Trump said during a press conference today that he will extend federal guidelines for social distancing to April 30th.
According to CNN, President Trump made the announcement early Sunday that he would extend the social distancing guidelines to April 30th to slow down the spread of COVID-19 throughout the United States. Based on data, President Trump said the death rate will reach its peak within the next two weeks but expects the nation to recover by June 1.

“The better you do, the faster this whole nightmare will end. Therefore, we will be extending our guidelines to April 30th, to slow the spread. On Tuesday we will be finalizing these plans and providing a summary of our findings, supporting data and strategy to the American people.”

Federal guidelines state all Americans should avoid groups of more than 10 people and to stay home if you’re not an essential worker. Trump expected to lift the guidelines in order for Americans to celebrate Easter on April 12 due to business owners claiming that the shutdowns have hurt their incomes more than the virus itself.
