According to CNN, the announcement was made earlier today by a White House official and said O’Brien recently returned from Europe where he and another top deputy traveled to meet with officials from France, the UK, Germany, and Italy. He has been working from home since last week and the last time he made contact with President Donald Trump was on July 10 where they went to visit the US Southern Command in Miami.

Images of O’Brien during his trip to Europe revealed he was not wearing a mask and didn’t practice social distancing. However as reported by another White House staffer, he poses “no risk of exposure to the President or Vice President.” Last week, a cafeteria staff member at the White House also tested positive for the virus.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, O’Brien has been very silent about the virus and passed his duties to top aides and ignored coronavirus task force meetings.
