2021 marked the year Saint Rien launched his solo music career. After the critically praised single, “Tell The Truth,” premiered on Wonderland Magazine and released alongside powerful visuals, Saint Rien is now introducing audiences to his multiple facets.
“Like You” is the second solo release by the Australian LA-based artist (former frontman and key songwriter of Storm The Sky), dropped as part of “l’année” project, which will put in motion a brazen 12 singles over 12 months as well as two EP’s.
Switching-up artistic directions, Saint Rien goes full-on pop with this light sarcastico-romantic song depicting his young, substance-filled journey from a hopeless romantic who didn’t believe in love, to finding his soulmate years later. From passion to attachment, drama, and betrayal, Saint Rien builds the song around the assumption; “I can fall in love with someone… like you.’ Alternating between light sarcasm and a more profound unveiling of the fact that he put himself through hell for someone, anyone to love him. A heartbreakingly honest expression of his inner battle with self acceptance, having struggled with depression most of his life.
In the second half of the song, the talented artist managed to create a beautiful lofi hip-pop section describing, with a lyrical prowess that seems effortless, the year he met the love of his life in Australia, a month before his flight to America to pursue his dreams. A beautiful long distance love story that will resonate with the masses, especially after the solitude experienced by all last year.
A home to Saint Rien’s versatility and swag, “Like You” proves the young prodigy is capable songwriting and performing within a vast spectrum of genre, debuting with a neo-soul, alt, hip-pop single and now surprising everyone with a much more pop drop, while still coming back the lo-fi hip-pop vibe in certain segments.
