Pregnant Woman And Baby Die Following Maternity Hospital Bombing In Ukraine
A pregnant woman who was injured in a blast that targeted a maternity hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol has sadly passed away along with the unborn child. A video of the woman, while she was still alive spread across the world as she was being recused from the site of the bombing, holding on to her unborn child, unbeknownst of her fate.
“While she was being resuscitated and the anti-shock measures were being taken, we performed a cesarean C-section and took a child with no signs of life. The child’s resuscitation for more than half an hour did not work. Resuscitation of the mother for half an hour or more — without any results. They both died.”
Per the Associated Press, a viral video circulated online showing the woman bloodied on her waist as she was carried by rescuers. She suffered a crushed pelvis and detached hip from the attack.
However, Russian officials are not taking responsibility for the lives lost and claim that the hospital was taken over by extremist Ukrainian forces as a base, that there were no patients or medical personnel in the hospital at the time, and that the shocking images were staged by actors and “fake news.”
