As we’ve previously shared, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 33, was released from prison in December 2023 after serving eight years behind bars for conspiring to murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, with her boyfriend at the time, Nicholas “Nick” Godejohn. On June 9, 2015, Dee Dee was stabbed to death by Godejohn in her Springfield, Missouri home as her daughter waited in the bathroom.

It’s believed that Gypsy Rose Blanchard suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a rare form of child abuse where a caregiver exaggerates or fabricates illnesses in a child for their own attention and sympathy. In her mother’s murder, Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Her case sparked significant interest and was even made the subject of several documentaries and television series.

Amid her release last year, Gypsy Rose Blanchard reflected on the events that led her to prison and admitted that she regrets everything, noting that her mother didn’t deserve it. She told PEOPLE, “If I had another chance to redo everything… I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick… or if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything.’ I kind of struggle with that.”

Blanchard recalled the moment she made the desperate decision to ask Godejohn to help kill her mother. She said, at the time, she was being mentally and physically abused and forced to undergo unnecessary surgeries. She said, “I was desperate to get out of that situation.” She added, “Nobody will ever hear me say, ‘I’m glad she’s dead,’ or, ‘I’m proud of what I did.’ I regret it every single day.”

After Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s December 2023 prison release, she came home to her husband Ryan Anderson. But after about three months post-prison, she left him and was spotted getting matching tattoos with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker in April 2024. Days later, she filed for divorce from Anderson, along with a temporary restraining order. By July, Blanchard and boyfriend Urker announced they were expecting their first child together. At their gender reveal they announced it was a girl.

As a pregnant Gypsy Rose Blanchard nears her delivery date, she is now admitting how “heartbreaking” it is that her mother will never get to meet or know her baby girl, and it “makes [her] sad.” Speaking on the latest episode of ‘The Bachelor‘ star Nick Viall‘s podcast, ‘The Viall Files,’ on Wednesday (October 16), Blanchard said, “I mean, for me, it is heartbreaking because I do, from time to time, think about what could have been, and it makes me sad.”

While reflecting, the mom-to-be referenced her stepmother Kristy Blanchard, whom her dad Rod Blanchard married after divorcing Dee Dee. Rod and Kristy share two children.

Blanchard explained, “So, I kind of put that in the back of my mind. And so, I mean, there has been questions on social media. Everybody asked the question, you know, ‘What are you gonna tell your daughter whenever grandma isn’t around?’ My response to them is that Kristy has become more of a mother to me than my own mother was. Kristy is going to be grandma.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard also addressed all of the “negative comments” she receives online regarding her becoming a mom having been convicted of conspiring to kill her own. On the podcast, she said she tries not to get too invested, adding, “The one thing that just irritates me is the fact that people really have this stigma on, you know, new parents that have come from a life of trauma and the stigma of, oh, you know, ‘You had been through this, so you’re gonna continue on that cycle with your child.'”

She continued, “I think that’s so unfair to put that on someone because I’m a person that I’m taking the steps to make sure that I’m mentally stable enough to be a parent and heal myself. And so going forward, you know, I might not be a perfect parent, nobody is. But I am gonna do the best I can and make educated choices with my child and have the support to do so.”
