The Hip-Hop world lost another great star this week and this latest unexpected death is hard for many to deal with.

As we previously reported, Rich Homie Quan, who burst onto the hip-hop scene in 2013, died on Thursday in Georgia, authorities said. Police responded to a medical call at a his Atlanta home just after 11:20 a.m. In 911 calls obtained by 11Alive, first responders were called out to the home after he was found unconscious on the couch by his girlfriend.

The rapper whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar was later taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and was confirmed dead. He was just 33 years old.

Following news of his death fans and celebrity friends started pouring in tributes online. His dad however, is speaking out to share just how heartbroken he is about this unexpected death.

He wrote this Friday morning, “Unbearable pain. Lord please please please help me to understand this. To lose my son my 1st born, my best friend. Lord please let this be a dream…. Yall pray for me and my family. I feel like I’m crushed into a million pieces.”

Quan rose to fame in the early 2010s and found mainstream music success with his 2013 single “Type of Way.” His follow-up 2015 single “Flex” peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100. Although he is no longer here, fans have promised to keep his legacy alive.
