Raven Symone shared some sad news with her fans this Tuesday Morning: Her father Christopher Pearman has sadly passed away.

The actress took to her Instagram where she posted an old family photo of Mr. Pearman with her and her mother Lydia (née Gaulden). She wrote, “My life has been long and abundant. And the path I’m on started with a dream. Hope he is watching with a smile on his face… #christopherbpearman.”

Under the comment section, one person wrote “Are you saying your day passed away???? He and I are friends on FB and we are very close and I need to know for real???????????” to which Raven replied, “Yes ma’am.” Other fans have been sending prayers and their deepest condolences to Raven and her family during this difficult time.

Mr. Pearman has played a big role in her career. After a long career in the media industry, he shifted over to help Raven and even directed a few episodes of That’s So Raven in the early 2000s. He was also the creator and director of the musical The Destiny of Rose.

Pearman was also a motivational speaker and author, having released a book called Dream So Big: A Parents Guide to Helping Your Child Believe and Achieve in 2010. Pearman ultimately stopped managing his daughter’s career a few years beforehand and that it was important for her to “be able to take the reins.” This was something that he was ok with.

He said in a past interview, “No, absolutely not. I’ve been managing that girl’s career since she was six months old. It’s just like you having a child and saying, you know, I’m ready to go to college and do my own thing and move out of the house. You know, it’s like okay, go ahead.”

Raven has always kept her relationships and family business private. It’s something she says she learned from her dad and mom.

The passing of Mr. Pearman comes nearly a year after his son Blaize died of colon cancer. Raven paid tribute to him on what would have been his 32nd birthday. She said at the time, “I love, miss, and will always be Reva to my lil brother. So many words to describe you, so many moments to remember you by, so many lives you’ve touched, and so many random things you’ve eaten.” She added,

“Life is short, and shorter if you don’t take care of your health. Get screened, tested, regularly doctor visits, don’t ingest poison disguised as food, exercise, and take care of your mental health. “Too many young people are leaving this planet because of cancer, tumors, sickness. Keep track of your sugars, know what’s happening with the body. It’s your one time in this vessel don’t waste it.”
