There’s a new disheartening update on Delonte West and it has sports fans even more concerned about him.
The former NBA star has once again found himself in trouble with the law. The former Boston Celtics point guard was arrested in Virginia and booked into the Fairfax County Detention Center on Thursday morning. West is now facing two misdemeanor charges — violating conditions of release and resisting arrest.
According to TMZ, officers had been trying to serve a warrant on the former athlete for violating the conditions of his release. The FCPD says West fled and during a foot pursuit, they even lost him. However, they ultimately discovered him “unresponsive.” Cops told the outlet, “Narcan was administered by officers but [it] did not have the desired effect. He was transported to a local hospital and Narcan was administered again, which yielded the desired effect. West was released from the hospital and transported to the ADC.”
The mug shot taken during his arrest paints a troubling picture of West’s current situation. In the photo, he appears to be struggling to keep his eyes open, suggesting that he may be facing some personal challenges yet again.

More On Delonte West:
West was a successful professional basketball player at one point in his life. He earned over $16 million during his nine-year career, which eventually came to an end after his only season with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011-2012, at the age of 28.
West has faced various personal challenges, including mental health issues and financial difficulties, in recent years. He has been open about his struggles with bipolar disorder and substance abuse, as well as experiencing homelessness at one point. Despite these challenges, there have been efforts to help him get back on his feet, including offers of support from former teammates and the basketball community.
As many are aware, this latest incident is not the first time that West has faced legal issues. Back in 2020, he worked with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to seek help and went to rehab. In 2022, he even tried out for the Big 3 in the hopes of making a comeback in his basketball career. Unfortunately, since then, West has been arrested multiple times. This includes two arrests within a two-week period in the fall of 2022, TMZ notes.
Per the news outlet, West, 40, is currently being held on $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, according to information provided by the Fairfax County Detention Center. TMZ was the first to report West’s latest arrest.
