With teary eyes, ‘Pose’ star Indya Moore has called out writer and director Ryan Murphy for remaining silent on transgender attacks by the government and beyond, and mentioned writer Janet Mock, who previously aired out Murphy.
On Sunday (September 28), Moore went live on Instagram and not only called out the federal government for its attacks on trans people, but also thanked trans allies showing support and love.
Before slamming Murphy, Moore — who identifies as non-binary and prefers “they/them” pronouns, but also uses “she/her” — first emotionally spoke about how transgender people are increasingly being attacked. They noted how trans people are seen as “terrorists” and “threats” while being stripped of their rights.
Indya Moore then initially began to thank Ryan Murphy giving them an opportunity, but then called him out for not speaking up about the trans attacks and remaining silent. Moore said, “The fact that Ryan Murphy has been so silent? Like, we really pissed you off that much, Ryan? Like, Ryan Murphy, who upset you that much? Janet pissed you off that much?”
In April 2021, Mock previously aired out Murphy, the ‘Pose’ writers’ room, and unequal pay at the final season premiere party. Moore continued slam Murphy and said, “How is it that you can do something like ‘Pose’ during the Donald Trump administration, then it’s like… Poof… It’s gone…It’s like garbage…It’s like an embarrassment. Like, that’s how it feels.” They later added, “We need help. Trans people need help.”
‘Pose’ Star Indya Moore Supported By Fellow Trans Activist And Actress Laverne Cox After Calling Out Trans Attacks By Trump Administration And More
After going live, Moore shared the live to her Instagram and captioned the post, “Trans People Need you. We have been copping for too long. Lift us up along side everyone else. @ryanmurphyproductions.”
In the comments, fellow transgender actress Laverne Cox spoke up. She said, “Love you so much my sister. This call to action, this call to love, this call for empathy, acknowledging each other’s humanity both intra-community and for those who proclaim allyship. I’ve been weeping just like this. Weeping. But not showing it. But I hear you. I feel you deeply. I’m right there too.”
Moore replied, “I love you too so much.” They added, “I know you have my beloved sister. None of your work or visibility and SACRIFICES in service for a safer world for EVERYONE will not go in vain. Absolutely not!!!!”
