Police Search For Viral Teen Who Threatened To Spread Coronavirus

While almost everyone is taking this coronavirus pandemic seriously, of course there‘s a few people who aren’t and it’s causing a lot of problems for some communities.

Folks out Carrollton, Texas are concerned after coming across a viral video which shows a teen claiming to have COVID-19 and is “willfully spreading it.” The Snapchat video in question shows the girl saying, “I’m here at Walmart about to infest every (expletive), because if I’m going down, all you (expletive) are going down.” The video later shows the teen in her car, coughing into the camera. “If you want to get the coronavirus and (expletive) die, call me,” the person in the video says. She continues, “I’ll meet you up and (cough, cough) and I will shorten your life.”

While a few people are taking this as just a joke, officers from the Carrollton Police Department are not taking it lightly. So far, police have identified the girl as 18-year-old Lorraine Maradiaga and said her family has been cooperating with them but they hope the teen will eventually come forward to turn herself in.

In the meantime, as NBCDFW notes, police are expected to charge Maradiaga with making a terroristic threat, according to a tweet from the department:

“We have identified the woman seen on social media claiming to be COVID-19 positive as 18-year-old Lorraine Maradiaga and are charging her with Terroristic Threat, Texas Penal Code 22.07. We have not located her yet. Tips: (972) 466-3333 or CrimeTips@CityofCarrollton.com.”
