Police In Northern California Gun Down Man Swinging Bat In Walmart
On Saturday (Apr 18), Northern California police shot and killed an African American man inside a local San Leandro Walmart for swinging a metal bat.
Initially, officers responded to a call of a man brandishing a bat, but upon arrival believed the man was possibly attempting a robbery. After determining he was not, officers still attempted to take the man into custody.

During their attempt to detain the man, two officers deployed their tasers. After one hit, the man dropped the bat, and after another he fell to the ground face first. The officers stood over the man and another “pop” can be heard, which is said to have been the shot that killed the man; which was let off by one of the officers, a 20-year veteran. In the video, customers, who watched the entire incident, stood back in shock, with one screaming, “No more!’
Currently, San Leandro Police Department officials are explaining the incident as unsuccessful taser attempts to detain the man, which led to the one gunshot. However, the fatal gun shot was let off as the man already lay on the ground, no longer an active threat.
