Police Launch Search After Seoul Mayor Goes Missing
According to CNN, Park Won-soon, the mayor of the South Korean capital Seoul has been reported missing.
A police official familiar with the case told the news outlet that was reported missing by his daughter on Thursday, at around 5 p.m. Thursday (4 a.m. ET). While they didn’t share any more details, police officials told Associated Press that his daughter said he had left her a message that sounded like a will.
Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency officer who in charge of the search said Park’s daughter did not share details on the contents of the message. Kim Ji-hyeong, a Seoul Metropolitan Government official, told the news outlet that the mayor did not show up for work Thursday and had canceled all events on his calendar, including a meeting that was set with a presidential official. Police have launched a search for him.

As CNN notes, Park was elected mayor of Seoul in 2011 after his predecessor stepped down following a failed referendum bid on free school meals. We will continue to keep you updated on this story when more details have been shared.
