Police In Washington State Bust Man Trying To Steal Over 100 Rolls Of Toilet Paper From Someone’s Home
Police in Washington State have busted a man trying to steal over 100 rolls of toilet paper from a residential home, and they’re calling him “The Great Toilet Paper Caper of 2020.”
In Walla Walla, the man, identified as 35-year-old Matthew G. Gillum of Weston, Oregon, was arrested for burglary this past weekend after attempting to steal over 100 rolls of toilet tissue. Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office officials say a “watchful citizen” caught the residential burglary in progress and alerted officials with the Gillum’s actions and details of his getaway vehicle.

After an unsuccessful capture of the suspect on the first try, several hours later, deputies located Gillum in his then-disabled 1980s Chevrolet Suburban. Upon apprehension, officials matched up the uniquely-packaged toilet paper in his vehicle with that witnesses had seen earlier at the residence. Deputies say over $1000 in stolen antique items were recovered in addition to the 108 rolls of priceless toilet paper. An investigation is underway.
