Authorities have launched an investigation into a Brazilian entertainment company after a fan died at Taylor Swift’s concert.

As we previously reported, a Taylor Swift fan died before an opening concert last Friday in Brazil, where concertgoers endured high heat. “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” Swift wrote on Instagram following her concert. “I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

“Regarding the events in Rio de Janeiro, we apologize to the fans who did not have the best possible experience.”

In regards to 23-year-old Benevides, they said, “We are absolutely devastated by the loss … despite the prompt care and all the efforts carried out by the medical teams at the event and, later, at the hospital.”

The organization also shared that within the last 40 years they haven’t had a person pass away during one of their events.
