A woman has been arrested and identified for the shooting death of Beyoncé‘s cousin, Martell DeRouen aka Kardone.

Bexar County deputies apprehended 21-year-old rapper, Sasha Skare, last weekend after she was on the run for two weeks. According to All Hip Hop, DeRouen met the rapper online after he was looking for women to participate in a video shoot. Investigators reported that Skare identified herself as DeRouen’s wife during a 911 call after the shooting and claimed she was locked out of his apartment then explained that she was worried about his safety. She was also seen walking around The Towers apartment complex with a handgun and a cellphone and investigators believe she might have shot him from outside of the apartment. It is unclear when DeRouen and Skare started dating each other.
His estranged wife Joia DeRouen said her former spouse wanted to help Skare with her music after learning that she wanted to pursue a career in the industry. Although the pair had been separated, they remained to have a friendship.
“He released a mixtape called ‘Trunk Bang,’ and he wanted some girls for a video shoot and he honestly just met her online. When you know, the video shoot was over. He said, hey, you know, she’s interested in music. I think I want to help her out.”

She added that the family became concerned after she didn’t hear from him and said he was supposed to headline a show days before his death. Joia drove to his home near La Cantera Parkway and found DeRouen in his apartment on Jan. 26.
Skare was identified as the main suspect after detectives conducted an investigation. She is currently held on a $500,000 bond.
