Plumber Discovers Money, Checks In Wall Of Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church Years After $600K “Burglary”
Socialites, come get into this! Back in 2014, thousands of dollars that were reported stolen from a safe at Lakewood Church. Years later it has finally been found.
According to reports, a plumber says he found money in a wall while he was doing work at the church on Nov. 10, 2021: “There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile. … Well, they removed the tile. Went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away, and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall,” the plumber told l Morning Bullpen at 100.3 after calling in. He said the envelopes were full of cash and checks. “I went ahead and contacted the maintenance supervisor that was there, and I went ahead and turned it all in,” the caller said.

A total of $600,000 was stolen from the Lakewood Church in a brazen heist. A mix of monetary items, $200,000 in cash and $400,000 in checks, were stolen from a safe. It was secure credit card information from members of the church was taken as well. At the time, Crime Stoppers Houston offered a reward of $25,000 for information leading to an arrest. Click 2 Houston reports that the Houston Police Department is still investigating the seven-year-old case involving the disappearance of $600,000.
In a statement, Lakewood Church confirmed that while repair work was being done that an undisclosed amount of cash and checks were found. They said they immediately notified the Houston Police Department, and confirmed they were assisting with that investigation, CBS reports.
