Plan Of Action Put In Place For Queen Elizabeth’s Death: ‘Operation London Bridge’

Queen Elizabeth II’s death has been a planned event with protocols for when the longest ruling Royal passes away. Thé 10-day plan includes a memorial service and crisis plan called “Operation LONDON BRIDGE,” which is part of a list of carefully constructed plans that have been in place since the 1960s.

Politico reports that the report details a step-by-step plan of what will happen in the event of the 95-year-old Queen’s death.

The first official to deal with the news of the Queen’s death will be her private secretary, Edward Young, who will then notify the prime minister, the cabinet secretary, senior ministers and the Privy Council Office.

A secret London location that houses the Foreign Office’s Global Response Centre will then notify the 15 governments where the Queen also rules.

A separate announcement will then go out to the Press
Association and the remainder of the global press.

“In a sign of the times, many of the immediate plans relate to social media. The royal family’s website will change to a black holding page with a short statement confirming the queen’s death. The U.K. government website — GOV.UK — will display a black banner at the top. All government departmental social media pages will also show a black banner and change their profile pictures to their departmental crest. Non-urgent content must not be published. Retweets are explicitly banned unless cleared by the central government head of communications,” writes Politico.
In addition, The Prime Minister will be the first government official to make a statement, the Ministry of Defence will arrange for gun salutes, and a minute of silence will be held, followed by the New King Charles who will “deliver a broadcast to the nation.”
Over the course of the ten days, different officials will be able to come to pay their respects at Buckingham Palace.
