Pixar’s “UP” Star Ed Asner Passes Away At 91

Veteran actor Ed Asner who starred in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Pixar’s “UP” has passed away at the age of 91.

Asner’s death was confirmed by his family on Sunday who said in a statement, “We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head- Goodnight dad. We love you.” as per TMZ. His cause of death is currently unknown.

One of Asner’s most famous roles is Lou Grant, Mary Tyler Moore’s TV station boss for 166 episodes along with starring in his own spinoff series titled “Lou Grant.” He also had a recurring role on “Roots” and the “Mod Squad” along with other memorable television shows. For younger generations, he was famously known as Carl Fredericksen, the lead character in Disney Pixar’s “UP.”

Up to his death, Asner had 416 acting credits to his name and made several other minor appearances in unreleased films and tv shows.
